Jimmy J’s Cafe in NOLA

We went to NOLA a cpl weeks ago and stumbled into Jimmy J’s Cafe one morning…..should have been more than once though…and I remembered that I had pictorial proof as well!!

Jimmy J's Bloody Mary

Need I say any more?! One of the best bloody marys EVER..with BACON!!

I ordered biscuits & gravy and added a cpl eggs….didn’t know they’d be slapped upon top…..turned out to be awesome!

Biscuits & Gravy

The gravy was from scratch, with sausage of course!

The female companion had her norm, eggs benedict:Eggies

They were poached traditionally, and to perfection, sitting on a small pile of braised pork and all covered in jalapeno hollandaise sauce.

All were super yummy, and well worth the wait (line was down the sidewalk), but their seating capacity is around two dozen (yes, 24). Service was prompt, polite.

Now if I could only figure out their bloody mary recipe to tide me over until next NOLA trip……….

Symon’s Burger Joint

I had to replace my stolen passport and on the way home I wandered into Symon’s. They have a rather simple menu, easy to navigate. I decided on the Symon Burger and added Hatch Chillies and of course a side of fries.

Service was great, the lady who took my order was polite and knowledgeable about the menu and chatty.

My order came out quickly and was made fresh.

The burger was only 1/4# and the bun was not toasted. The fixin’s were good and fresh, patty was juicy. The bacon onion jam was interesting, a sweet concoction of caramelized onions, bacon, and jam…

The fries were a little over done for my taste, but overall good.

The atmosphere there and in the Space 24 Twenty was really cool, appealing to the eyes. Lots of geometric coolness.

Overall it was a good experience and I’m sure I’ll be back since the woman friend was not with me this time. A little pricey, but it’s on the drag, Micheal Symon’s bills are probably pricey too!

I forgot to take any pics…..that would probably help next time….. #FailBlog
